“I’m looking forward to our ancillary benefits starting in January. That’s something I’m most proud of winning in our union contract.”
–Lindy Ward, 663 member, Cub Foods Chanhassen
We know that staying healthy and safe so we can enjoy our lives is important–it should be affordable too. That’s why earlier this year, we were able to negotiate ancillary health benefits into many of our metro area grocery collective bargaining agreements. Ancillary benefits include Dental, Vision, Life and AD & D* coverage.
Affordable Health Benefits
This new benefit came about because we listened to one another. Through union contract membership surveys before bargaining began, securing affordable health benefits was one of the top three economic items you told us to prioritize. Together we stood up, with your union bargaining committees made up of members like you, and won benefits that will have a large impact on thousands of working families throughout the metro area.
Beginning on January 6, 2019, Local 663 members who have Part Time Regular positions at Lunds & Byerlys, Jerry’s, and Supervalu, as well as Group 3 positions at Supervalu, will be able to have ancillary health benefit coverage for just $1.00 a week. New hires at these employers will be eligible for the coverage after a ninety day waiting period.
While ancillary benefits will cost our members just $1.00 a week, our employers also agreed to pick up part of the cost. Below are the Member and Employers’ weekly contributions for the next year to be able to work together with us to provide the value we deserve.
Part Time Regular Employer Weekly Contributions for Ancillary Benefits at Lunds & Byerlys, Jerry’s, Supervalu
Group 3 (Supervalu only)
Employer contribution $6.22 January 6, 2019 thru March 3, 2019
Employer contribution $6.48 March 4, 2019 thru Feb 29, 2020
Member contribution $1.00
At a time when healthcare costs are skyrocketing, we’re working together to keep costs affordable for our union family and adding value as we build better lives.
